The Korean Embassy in Nigeria on Dec. 12 in Abuja hosted the event "Friends of Korea," attracting people from the Korea International Cooperation Agency, Korean Cultural Center (KCC), Honorary Reporters, creators of Hallyu (Korean Wave) content and alumni of the Global Korea Scholarship.

To open the event, Ambassador to Nigeria Kim Pankyu in a speech mentioned growing trade between Korea and Nigeria, including a 55% jump in the third quarter of this year.
On his first nine months at his post, he said he had many beautiful memories, adding, "This is why I believe that those who joined today's event are the key figures to lead the future of our two countries."
"You are the ones interested and experienced in and ready to share what you know about Korea. I hope you continue to pay attention to how partnerships between our two countries are nurtured and grown, and take photos of this entire journey."
The winners of a KCC-organized contest for videos sharing Korean-related experiences organized by the embassy were announced. The winner was Honorary Reporter Godwin Stella, followed by Hallyu content creators Jamila Shuaibu in second and Doris Amushi third.
In an interview, Stella said, "My heart was full of joy and that was when I knew that four years of those experiences were a dream come true."
"The Korean moment that stood out for me this year was winning third in the K-Community Sogochum Challenge, which is one of the biggest Korean competitions in the world," she added. "I was so happy to promote Nigerian and Korean culture through the event."
