The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on May 21 hosted the Korea Travel Mart & Tourism Roadshow in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata with 14 partners in Korean tourism.
Building on the success of previous roadshows in Chennai (April 23) and Bengaluru (April 25), the Kolkata event, the KTO's first of its kind, showed the organization's regional marketing in India.
The Korea Travel Mart & Tourism Roadshow in Kolkata, India, attracts leading figures from the tourism industry.
The participation of leading destination management companies, airlines and regional tourism boards demonstrated Korea's drive to tapping India's growing outbound market. The roadshow highlighted travel segments in Korea ranging from free independent travelers to luxury meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
The KTO emphasized its support for Indian travel agents through training programs and marketing resources.
The event concludes with K-Gala Night, featuring a culinary experience and souvenir distribution.
Puja Bharti of Pooho Travel Management called the event "uniquely engaging, surpassing typical trade show experiences."
Priyanka Verma from Korean Air added, "The networking and cultural immersion made it an invaluable connection between countries."
Following a 4% increase in Indian visitors last year to 176,000, the KTO aims to attract 250,000 this year.
The event concluded with a performance by the Painters, a Korean troupe that combines live drawing with 3D visual effects, dance and comedy, and a K-Market showcase of Korean experiences through food, souvenirs and interactive displays.
