A Kimchi Day event on Nov. 6 was held at the Tehran residence of Korean Ambassador to Iran Kim Jun-pyo. He gave a speech on the history and importance of kimchi in Korean life, giving mention to the cultural significance of kimjang, or the culture and process of making kimchi that is designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, noting how the tradition's meaning of gathering families, neighbors and friends.
He later said Nov. 22 is Kimchi Day, pointing to its 22 health benefits and 11 essential ingredients. The ambassador concluded his speech by saying the relationship between Korea and Iran grows stronger with the passage of time like kimchi, which improves with fermentation and age.
Ingredients for making kimchi
The main highlight was dividing participants into eight groups of six Iranians and two Koreans to make kimchi. While the Iranians focused on the process of seasoning kimchi cabbage, the Koreans prepared koobideh kebab, a representative Iranian dish.
Each group made kimchi to add to other foods served at the event.
Adding to the excitement, each group recorded a video of their kimchi making and edit it creatively. They got a week to edit, after which the winning group would be announced.

As an admirer of Korean culture, I loved this kimchi-making event that brought the spirit of kimjang to life.
