Surfers on May 9, the day before Marine Gardening Day, ride the waves at a beach in the village of Yonghan-ri in the Buk-gu District of Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
Designated in 2012 to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the marine ecosystem, this day features events like planting algae to clean water along beaches and restore the coastal ecosystem.
