The day before Buddha's Birthday, Buddhists on May 18 pour water in performing gwanbul, a ritual of bathing a baby Buddha statue, at Daewoongjeon (the main hall) of Jogyesa Temple in Seoul's Jongno-gu District. The ritual is based on a legend written in Buddhist scripture that nine dragons bathed the baby Buddha with fragrant water when he was born.
