World Cup Bridge, the 31st bridge going across Seoul's Hangang River, was opened on Sept. 1. It connects the Sangam-dong neighborhood of Mapo-gu District to Yangpyeong-dong of Yeongdeungpo-gu District. With a length of 1,980 m and width of 31.4 m, the six-lane bridge directly links the Seobu and Naebu Expressways. The bridge, whose construction began in 2010, was built to commemorate the 2002 FIFA World Cup soccer finals cohosted by Korea and Japan.
