A military officer from the German Embassy in Seoul on Oct. 15 gives a salute after a ceremony for the unveiling of a German war monument at Peace Plaza of the War Memorial of Korea in the city's Yongsan-gu District.
Written in German and Korean, the message on the monument reads "Unification, justice and freedom" to honor German participation and veterans of the Korean War. With the latest addition, the plaza now houses 22 monuments -- 16 to countries that provided combat support and six that gave medical assistance.
