The Cheonghae Unit's ROKS Dae Jo Yeong battleship (DDH-II, 4,400-ton class) of the Republic of Korea Navy on March 30 leaves Busan Naval Base for the Gulf of Aden in Somalia for its mission carrying the vessel's 37th contingent. Founded in March 2009, Cheonghae is the only combat unit of the Korean military to go on international missions for maritime safety and counter-terrorism to support the safe operations of vessels in the gulf. The 300-member contingent comprises crew from the destroyer, an inspection team of special warfare (UDT/SEAL) personnel, an air squadron for running naval helicopters, and a patrol and support force of Marines and medical personnel.
