A ritual of the crown princess of the Joseon Dynasty reporting her marriage on May 18 in the afternoon is reenacted at Yeongnyeongjeon Hall of Seoul's Jongmyo Shrine. The post-wedding ritual myohyeonrye had the queen or the newlywed bride of the crown prince visit the shrine, where the spirit tablets of kings and queens were housed, to give greetings. This was also the only event in which a female member of the royal court could participate in a national ritual during the Joseon era (1392-1910).
