A woman on June 2, the day before Dano, one of Korea's three main traditional holidays that falls on May 5 in the lunar calendar, has her hair washed in water mixed with leaves of the herb changpo (sweet iris) at the National Folk Museum of Korea in Seoul's Jongno-gu District. The traditional practice of washing hair with changpo water on Dano comes from the belief that it drives away ghosts and makes hair shiny.
