The Republic of Korea Navy on the morning of Aug. 2 aboard the frigate ROKS Gyeongnam holds the first ceremony for officer promotions of the U.S. Navy hosted on a domestic naval vessel at Busan Naval Base in Busan's Nam-gu District.

About 40 domestic and American naval personnel who raised the naval defense posture of both countries were promoted, with their families and friends watching, featuring oaths of promotion, conferment of rank insignias and speeches of appreciation to those promoted. This was the first time in the bilateral alliance's 71-year history for a domestic naval vessel to host such a ceremony for U.S. naval officers.
