A member of the 31st Dongmyeong Unit of Korea's United Nations (U.N.) peacekeeping operations (PKO) on the morning of May 2 embraces his son at a sendoff ceremony for the unit at the headquarters of the International Peace Supporting Standby Force in Incheon's Gyeyang-gu District. First deployed to Lebanon in July 2007 to contain the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, the unit seeks peace and stability in the Mideast country through activities like keeping in check the flow of illegal weapons and armed groups and countering terrorist activities, earning recognition as a role model for U.N. PKO.
