Cyclists chosen to reenact the procession of Joseon Tongsinsa, or Korean envoys to Japan during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), on Oct. 27 embark on their journey from Yeouido Hangang Park in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo-gu District. Marking the 60th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations, the event covers the historical route of the envoys. Shin Yun-chan, the mother of a Good Samaritan who died in 2001 while trying to rescue a Japanese man who had fallen onto a subway track, is the event's honorary leader.
