A visually impaired person on Oct. 4, National Braille Day, reads a braille book at Korean Braille Library in Seoul's Gangdong-gu District. The commemorative day honors teacher Park Du-seong, who in 1926 created the Hunmaengjeongeum, the domestic reading and writing system for the visually impaired. Opened in 1969 as the nation's first facility of its kind, the library offers the visually impaired, who have limited opportunities in education, access to knowledge and information through the publication and distribution of a range of braille books.
