German singer Jamie-Lee Kriewitz visits the 'K-Style Hub' in Seoul as part of her trip to Korea. She's the winner of a German singing competition TV show last year and is known as a passionate K-pop fan.
“I'm so happy to realize my long-awaited dream of finally coming to Korea,” said Jamie-Lee Kriewitz, a rising teen pop star from Germany about her trip here.
Kriewitz visited Korea from July 30 to Aug. 2 to shoot her music video. She visited major attractions in Seoul, such as the Myeong-dong and Samcheong-dong neighborhoods. Her itinerary also included a stop at the "K-Style Hub," a tourism information center with a virtual reality concert hall and information about Korean food, pop music and TV shows.
She debuted last year as the winner of Voice of Germany, a live talent show competition program. In May, she participated in the Eurovision Song Contest that took place in Stockholm where she represented Germany, receiving recognition around the globe. She has been actively building her musical career by acting as a judge for the qualification rounds of the K-Pop World Festival that was recently held in Berlin.
Kriewitz says she's so happy that her dream to visit Korea has come true, and that she's really enjoying shooting her music video here.
Kriewitz is a well-known K-pop fan. On the jacket of her album last year, its title “Berlin” is also written in Korean: “베를린.” In interviews with the German daily Die Welt and the TV program ”NDR Talk Show,” she has said that she loves Korea and all types of K-pop, and that she hopes to study Korean studies at university in the future.
The Korean Tourism Organization (KTO), which supported her trip here, said, “In Germany, many K-pop fan clubs are being formed across the country, with a rising demand for K-pop concerts and K-pop dance lessons, just as in other areas of Europe where a sizable fan base is forming,” quoting the German-based K-pop magazine K-Bang as its source.
