The New York Times has named President Yoon Suk Yeol and K-pop girl group NewJeans to the daily's list of this year's "71 Most Stylish People."

The Times on Dec. 6 released its list of people from around the world this year appearing in media who attracted attention through their unique clothing or performances.

The list featured a photo of President Yoon singing the song "American Pie" in April this year at the White House during his state visit to the U.S.

"His pitch-perfect performance of 'American Pie' at the White House was worthy of 'American Idol,'" the daily said.

President Yoon on April 26 at the White House impromptu sang the 1971 hit by American folk-rock singer Don McLean. President Joe Biden gave his Korean counterpart an acoustic guitar signed by McLean as a gift, an act that went viral.

NewJeans, the second Korean entry on the list, was shown in a photo with members wearing hats with bunny ears.

The daily said, "With a sound inspired by late '90s and early 2000s R&B, the bunny-ears-wearing members of NewJeans climbed to the top of Billboard charts and earned various distinctions — including being the first female K-pop act to play Lollapalooza."
