The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will produce and distribute worldwide an English-language guide to domestic copyrights for content created by generative artificial intelligence (AI).

"K-content has been commonly used in AI learning abroad or by Hallyu (Korean Wave) fans to make content similar to K-content via generative AI," the ministry said on April 15. "We plan to preemptively respond to issues related to AI copyrights."

The guide's four sections are precautions for AI entrepreneurs; preventative measures for copyright holders; precautions for AI users; and guidance on copyright registration for generative AI output.

On April 15, the ministry was scheduled to introduce and distribute the guide's main content to key member countries of the World Intellectual Property Organization's Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights. The guide will also be given and promoted at international conferences and events.

To maximize public access, the guide is available on the websites of the ministry (www.mcst.go.kr/english), Korea Copyright Commission (www.copyright.or.kr/eng), and Korean Culture and Information Service (www.kocis.go.kr/eng).
