A digital society initiative jointly spearheaded by the government and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was launched on May 20.
The Ministry of Science and ICT on May 19 announced the start of the Korea-led initiative, which explores how to respond to global discussions on artificial intelligence (AI), digital standards and governance.
The initiative is a global policy platform to regularly share digital norms and policy cases of digitalization among participating countries.
Regular meetings will assess the social impact of digitalization on the world and share each country's response to the digital revolution including laws, institutions and policy. A summary report of major related activities will also be produced.
The ministry will also share and disseminate initiatives like its Digital Bill of Rights with OECD member countries to build a new digital order. Based on this, Seoul will lead talks on digital standards at the OECD level and provide a forum for discussion.
To mark the initiative's official launch, a ceremony was held for the signing of a letter of intent on related cooperation.
