A delegation from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety from May 6-14 will promote digital government cooperation across Africa through visits to Ethiopia and Egypt.

The 18-member mission is led by the head of the ministry's Digital Government Cooperation Division and includes staff from the ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Government Legislation and Korea Customs Service.

The purpose of the visits is to share Korea's exemplary cases of digital government with Ethiopia and Egypt, two key partners for Korean official development assistance and regional hub countries, to expand customized cooperation in the sector and actively support the international expansion of related companies.

Through May 10, the delegation will visit Ethiopia for talks with Vice Ethiopian Minister of Innovation and Technology Yeshurun Alemayehu on raising bilateral digital government cooperation.

Afterward is a trip to Egypt, which marks the 30th anniversary of relations with Korea, to attend the opening ceremony for the Korea-Egypt Digital Government Cooperation Center.

To run through 2027, the center will dispatch Korean digital government experts to implement joint projects, policy consultations and invitational training sessions in stages.

The Korea-Egypt Digital Government Cooperation Forum after the opening ceremony will have high-ranking administrative and public organization members from the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology attending.

The event will cover Korea's national systems for legal data, customs (Unipass), national fiscal information (dBrain+), social security and digital identification and hold working-level talks in each sector.
