Three major hospitals in Seoul are among the top 10 cancer centers of Newsweek's World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2026.
Samsung Medical Center ranked third, Asan Medical Center fourth and Seoul National University (SNU) Hospital eighth, the U.S. weekly said on Sept. 10. The Samsung and SNU institutions saw their ranks remain the same from the previous year.
Topping the list was the New York-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Seventeen hospitals in Korea were also ranked among the world's top 300, further attesting to the nation's global medical competitiveness.
The survey was jointly conducted by Newsweek and Statista, a global market research company, between May and July this year and based on recommendations from tens of thousands of medical professionals in 30 countries.
The list was based on a global online survey of medical staff, health professionals and hospital administrators (85%); hospital accreditation and evaluation in each country (10%); and use of Statista's Patient-reported Outcome Measures Implementation Survey on health conditions (5%).
