The beautiful nightscape over the dark ocean of Haeundae has recently become increasingly popular online, showing up on more and more people's social media profiles, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The high-rises in the Marine City neighborhood add to the glamorous night spectacle of Haeundae, a suburb of Busan. Its growing popularity is evidenced by the rising number of comments and photos shared online by tourists. According to data from May to October last year which was recently analyzed by the Haeundae-gu District office, there were 649 online comments praising the nightscape of Haeundae on Facebook and Twitter, about a twentyfold increase from the 33 found in 2012.

The neighborhood of Marine City in Haeundae offers a glamorous night view surrounded by high-rises.
The Marine City neighborhood offers one of the best nightscapes in the country. It is filled with high-rise multipurpose skyscrapers, like Haeundae I'Park and Haeundae Doosan We've the Zenith, which just began receiving tenants in 2012. The neighborhood was made even more beautiful in February last year when the Bay 101 sports facility and yacht club opened near the entrance to Dongbaekseom Island.
Thanks to the nightscape, the number of tourists visiting Haeundae has risen continually, from 2.3 million in 2011, to 2.6 million in 2012, 2.8 million in 2013 and finally to over three million last year.
To cater to the growing number of tourists, the Haeundae-gu District office plans to designate seven official spots from which to take in the wonderful nighttime view. Among the potential official view spots is the Dalmaji Hill, from which you can look down upon Haeundae Beach, Marine City, where you can see views of the Dongbaekseom Port, and Jangsan Mountain, from which you can see the Centum City development.
The district also plans to launch a harbor cruise that would go from Haeundae Beach to the marina, through Marine City. Tourists would be able to enjoy the sunset and the night view from a yacht all at once.
