Korean language instructors from around the world have gathered in Seoul for a conference.
The seventh World Korean Educators Conference kicked off its three-day run on Aug. 24. Over 180 instructors working for 90 King Sejong Institute branches in 43 nations are attending the meeting.

On the first day, there was a special lecture, a training program to teach instructors educational skills and consultations on how to manage King Sejong Institute branches. Kim Jeongun, director of the Several Issues Research Institute, gave a lecture on "The relationship between communication and culture in the aspect of culture and psychology." In the afternoon, there were educational sessions for conference participants on how to evaluate King Sejong Institute students and how to develop teaching materials. They also took part in a discussion on how to reeducate instructors and talked about how to improve the level of Korean language education worldwide. There were also education sessions and consultations for those who manage new King Sejong Institute branches that were opened in 2014 and 2015.

On the second day, there will be an open competition for the best class instruction. The competition is designed to share on-site teaching experiences. Participants will present content for Korean language classes and watch videos of what went on in actual class settings. A total of three instructors will be awarded in the end. After the competition, they will visit the National Hangeul Museum and try their hand at traditional Hangeul calligraphy.
On the final day, there will be training sessions on teaching methods based on "Korean foods and craft culture." Then, they will watch a pansori performance of "Heungboga" by vocalist Nam Sang-il.

"The seventh World Korean Educators Conference is a festival for King Sejong Institute instructors worldwide and an opportunity to build a global cooperation network," said an official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
