Yonhap News Agency and a government agency in charge of the country's overseas publicity agreed Thursday to work closely to raise the world's awareness of Korea and enhance its national image.
The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and South Korea's main news agency proclaimed their commitment in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on work cooperation

According to the document, the two bodies will beef up cooperation in national publicity affairs by exchanging content to promote the national image.
KOCIS currently operates 36 Korean culture and PR centers in 31 countries around the world. Yonhap has signed accords for exchanges of news articles with 83 news agencies and national promotional news with nine of them.
The latest accord requires Yonhap to release articles on KOCIS' national publicity campaigns through its overseas partners.
In addition, the two organizations will post each other's articles on Korea.net, the KOCIS-run foreign-language state publicity portal, and Yonhap's foreign-language website.
Korea.net offers the latest information on the country and government policies, international events and major domestic issues for the foreign community in South Korea in nine foreign languages. Yonhap dispatches news and information to international media organizations in six foreign languages to help the international community access clear and accurate information on the Korean Peninsula.
