Hallyu fan clubs in Indonesia are collecting donations for victims of natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods in their country.

As of Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. Korean Standard Time, nine such groups based in the Southeast Asian country were part of a charity drive on Kitabisa, an Indonesian crowdfunding platform, with 41,889 people collecting IDR 1.25 billion (KRW 99.28 million).

Army Indonesia, a fan club for the K-pop boy group BTS, gathered from Jan. 15 the most funds for victims of flooding in the province of South Kalimantan, with 19,978 members raising IDR 668.26 million (KRW 52.65 million). Second was EXO-L Indonesia with 10,667 fans and IDR 284.74 million (KRW 22.43 million) and third was 7,653 NCT fans who put up IDR 166.44 million (KRW 13.11 million).

Elf Indonesia, a fan club of Super Junior, had 830 members raise IDR 57.74 million (KRW 4.55 million); Blink Indonesia (BLACKPINK) 861 and IDR 33.22 million (KRW 2.62 million); and Treasure Makers Indonesia (Treasure) 606 and IDR 15.87 million (KRW 1.25 million).

A K-drama-themed charity campaign for disaster victims in Indonesia attracted more than 1,000 participants within a week of its launch on Jan. 18.



K-drama fans also did their part for charity, with 1,023 of them raising IDR 23.24 million (KRW 1.83 million) on Jan. 18 under a K-drama-themed drive to collect donations for disaster victims. Donors made contributions in the names of their favorite characters in Korean dramas, such as Han Woo-tak from "While You Were Sleeping," and Han Seo-jun from "True Beauty".
