Half of the world's 10 most used hashtags on Twitter in the first half of this year were related to K-pop.
On the occasion of #HashtagDay, Twitter on Aug. 23 released its 10 most used hashtags worldwide from January through June this year.
#BTS was second on the list with 150 million, while #BTSArmy ranked sixth and the K-pop group's hit #Dynamite tenth. Fellow K-pop boy bands #EXO came in at seventh and #Enhypen eighth.
The top ranking went to #iHeartAwards, an awards ceremony hosted by a U.S. online radio station. Third was #WhatsHappeninginMyanmar, which is about the military coup that occurred in the Southeast Asian nation.
Korea also tied for sixth with Japan, the U.S., the U.K., India and Canada with seven million hashtags used in the year's first half.
