The Ministry of Justice on Dec. 29 announced the release of its e-guidebook "Visa Navigator," which is customized for foreign nationals to help them stay and settle in the country.

The guidebook contains information on the nation's 37 visa types for non-nationals, sectors where non-citizens can get a job, the process starting with a stay to gaining permanent residence, filing a civil complaint, FAQ, leading consultation examples, and cases of reporting obligations by expats and related legal violations. The ministry said it hopes for the guide to act as a compass to guide expats on staying in the country.

The Korean-language PDF version is available for download on the ministry's website (click here) and an edition in English will come later.

In October, the ministry released a visa guidebook specifically for ethnic Koreans with foreign nationality in Korean, English, Chinese and Russian, publishing and distributing hard copies. This book can also be downloaded on the website of the Korea Immigration Service (www.hikorea.go.kr/inf).
