Gwacheon National Science Museum in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do Province, will livestream the nation's first sunrise of 2023 on Ulleungdo Island in Ulleung-gun County, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

The museum on Dec. 29 said the livestream on Jan. 1 will begin at 7 a.m. on its YouTube channel. The nation's earliest sunrise is expected at 7:26 a.m. on Dokdo Island, with the sunrise on Ulleung-do to follow five minutes later at 7:31 a.m.

Museum director Lee Jeong-mo said, "We made a preliminary visit to Ulleungdo and thoroughly prepared for the livestream to show the country's earliest sunrise to many people," adding, "We hope that people comfortably stay at home instead of going out far and watch the first sunrise of 2023 on Ulleung-do through the Gwacheon National Science Museum's livestream."

The museum's Instagram account (www.instagram.com/scipia.gnsm) offers information on variables that could affect the livestream like weather conditions.
