A domestic convenience store giant has started selling universal subscriber identity module (USIM) cards.
GS25 on July 10 said it began sales of EG SIM for Foreign Travel, which is usable in 40 countries, with Code Mobile, a domestic mobile virtual network operator.
Priced at KRW 3,000, the USIM is a SIM product under the "open ticket" concept needing no preregistration of country or period of use at the time of purchase.
Its advantage is flexible use without additional charges if unexpected changes occur during travel.
Unlike other USIMs that must be ordered online and delivered via courier or picked up at the airport, this card can be purchased at any GS25 branch, thus raising tourist convenience.
The easy-to-use card is activated after a user scans the QR code on the back, selects the desired country, period, and amount of data use, and pays.
