Immigrants will get more opportunities to undergo evaluation by a social integration program.

The Ministry of Justice on Dec. 30 along with the Korea Immigrant Service Foundation opened the Seoul CBT (Computer-based Testing) Center for immigrants under the Korea Immigration and Integration Program (KIIP).

Located in the city's Jongno-gu District, the center offers participation in KIIP's pre- and comprehensive assessments required for foreign nationals seeking a visa, permanent residence or nationalization. This is the third such center following the first in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do Province, opened in 2022 and the second in Daejeon launched last year.

The Seoul center allows expats in the capital metropolitan region including Seoul and Gyeonggi-do and those in other provinces to take the tests in a more convenient manner.

"KIIP's first year of 2009 saw only 1,300 participants, but this year saw over 70,000, making it a crucial educational program for immigrants to settle in our society," Korea Immigration Service Commissioner Bae Sang-up said. "Building the needed infrastructure is important so that participants can receive social integration education and evaluations more conveniently."
