K-Forest for All, a newly launched domestic brand for global forest cooperation, seeks to reaffirm the nation's commitment to environmental protection worldwide.
The Korea Forest Service (KFS) on March 21 unveiled the brand at an event it hosted with the Asia Forest Cooperation Organization to mark the International Day of Forests at Korea National Arboretum in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do Province.
Attending were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador for Climate Change Chung Keeyong, envoys from 18 countries including the U.S., Germany, Philippines and Kazakhstan, and representatives from international organizations including the Food and Agriculture Organization under the United Nations and the Asian organization. Those in attendance reaffirmed the importance of global cooperation and solidarity in forestry.
K-Forest for All conveys Seoul's commitment to share its advanced forest management know-how and policy with the world, contribute to the global response to climate change and improve quality of life for people.
Through the brand, the KFS is promoting four main strategic projects to share Korea's experience and capacity in national forestation green with the world and proactively respond to global challenges.
Under the plan, it will conduct forest carbon reduction abroad; pursue restoration for healthy forests; raise the incomes of residents to improve their livelihood; and bolster forest disaster responses to protect green forests safely.
"We will do our best to diversify and raise international solidarity and cooperation and systemize projects for global forestry collaboration," KFS Minister Lim Sang-seop said. "With this international forest cooperation brand, we will expand our efforts and work toward becoming a global leader in green initiatives."
