Korea is the world's seventh most powerful country this year, a U.S. business publication says.

The New York-based CEO World Magazine on Dec. 9 gave Korea a score of 94.18, good for seventh place.

The list was based on comprehensive assessments of 190 countries in seven categories: political stability, economic influence, defense budget, weapons, global alliances, soft power and military strength.

CEO World said 296,400 global surveys and data from international organizations and economic think tanks were used to calculate the scores.

The U.S. was No. 1 with 95.36 points, followed by China (94.86), Russia (94.81), India (94.76), U.K (94.56) and Japan (94.31). France (93.55) was eighth and Italy (93.3) ninth.

"The 2025 list reinforces that a small number of states still set the tempo of global politics, markets, and security," the magazine said, adding that the top tier underscored "how advanced industrial capacity, alliances, and regional leadership translate into durable influence."
