Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has requested that K-pop sensation BTS hold additional concerts in her country.
Korean news outlets including Yonhap News quoted her as saying on Jan. 26 at a regular news conference, "Many young people couldn't get a ticket for BTS' concerts in Mexico in May" adding, "Over a million people wanted to buy tickets but only 150,000 were available."
Given this circumstance, President Sheinbaum said she wrote a letter to President Lee Jae Myung asking him if BTS could add concert dates in Mexico.
"I've yet to receive a response but hope to get a positive answer or suggestion of an alternative like installation of large screens," she added. "I hope young people can get access to this extremely popular group in Mexico."
To launch its comeback in March, BTS in April will begin a world tour of 79 concerts in 34 cities starting in Korea and Japan.
On May 7, 9 and 10, the boy band will hold concerts at GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City.
Tickets for the three shows sold out 37 minutes after sales began on Jan. 24 at 9 a.m.
