The University of Oxford in the U.K. will open a center for Korean studies including Hallyu (Korean Wave).

The school on April 25 announced this at the opening ceremony for the university's Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.

The Oxford University Centre for Regional Studies is an academic institution that confers master’s and doctoral degrees.

Korea's cultural influence focused on cultural content was cited as the major reason for the center's establishment. As early as the start of the fall semester in October, the facility will oversee research and education on Korean politics, economy, language and history as well as Hallyu's sustainability.

To go beyond the Korean language and history and cover modern economy, politics and literature, the center will gradually recruit more senior researchers in these sectors.
