The 95th National Sports Festival on Jeju Island had a successful run from October 28 to November 3.
Some 32,000 athletes took part in the competition and contended with each other for medals across a variety of disciplines. The competition produced new records, including two world records in archery and four national records in shooting, as well as seven national records in swimming, compared to only three records broken last year.

Kim Woo-jin, an archer, produced world records two days in a row and won three gold medals. Kim was given the MVP award at the festival. Kim tied a world record by receiving 360 points in the men's 30-meter individual event. He set a world record on the 70-meter range with 352 points, and another world record with 1,391 points in the four combined distances.
Park Tae-hwan, a swimmer who won one silver and five bronze medals at the Asian Games in Incheon in September, won four gold medals here, proving himself once more. Park won in the men's 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle events as well as in the 400-meter and 800-meter relays.

"It is a little sad that I didn't win the medley race, but I did my personal best and finished well," said Park. "I don't know when I am going to retire, but I want to continue to compete until then."
Yang Hak-seon, nicknamed the "God of Vault," also won a gold medal at the festival. In the final, held at the Halla Middle School Stadium on October 31, Yang received an average of 15.15 points in the first and second trials. Yang won gold medals in the discipline four times in a row at the festival, since 2011.

Jin Jongoh, one of Korea's top shooters, won three gold medals at the festival, a feat he achieved now twice in a row after the festival last year. Jin received 201.2 points in the men's 10-meter air pistol individual final held at the Jeju High School shooting range on November 2, winning a gold medal. Jin won a gold medal in the team competition earlier.
Kim Jae-bum, a judo star, succeeded in winning gold medals the past three years in a row at the festival. Kim won the men's 81-kilogram final held at the Jeju judo hall, adding a gold medal to his portfolio. Kim won gold medals in the same weight category in Daegu in 2012 and in Incheon in 2013. Kim won a gold medal in the men's 81-kilogram individual event at the Asian Games in September and another in the team competition there.

There were seven National Sports Festival records in track and field. Kim Byoung-jun finished the men's 110-meter hurdle race in 13.59 seconds, breaking the previous record of 13.65 seconds set by Lee Jung-joon in 2008.
Gyeonggi-do (Gyeonggi Province) won the National Sports Festival in terms of medal counts. The next festival will be held in Gangwon-do (Gangwon Province) in 2015.
