As part of the test events for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, the International Skating Union (ISU) World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships took place at the Gangneung Oval in Gangneung, Gangwon-do Province, from Feb. 9 to 12.
At the women's mass start race on the last day of the championships, Korea’s Kim Bo-reum won first place. Kim rallied to second place, leaving the last half of the race and moving fast to the front of the pack, winning the championship, and she finally gave us a thrill of an ice race. Nana Takagi of Japan and Heather Bergsma of the U.S. took second and third place.
