Laura Dahlmeier of Germany won the women's sprint at the International Biathlon Union (IBU) World Cup here on Thursday.
Dahlmeier finished first among 97 biathletes with a time of 20 minutes, 43.7 seconds at the IBU Biathlon World Cup in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, some 180 kilometers east of Seoul. Tiril Eckhoff of Norway, the 2016 world champion in sprint, was second after finishing 8.4 seconds behind Dahlmeier at Alpensia Biathlon Centre.
Anais Chevalier of France took the bronze with a time of 21:25.3 in the 7.5km race.
South Korea's two naturalized athletes -- Anna Frolina and Ekaterina Avvakumova -- finished 26th and 45th, respectively. Both Frolina and Avvakumova are born Russians, but acquired South Korean citizenships to compete at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Frolina clocked 22:34.6 after missing one target each in her prone and standing shootings. Avvakumova posted 23:05.3 after sending two bullets wide of target.
Dahlmeier, who won five gold medals at the World Championships in Austria last month, hit all 10 targets and took the lead from second loop.
This is Dahlmeier's second sprint World Cup title since December 2016 when she triumphed in Pokljuka, Slovenia. She now has won eight of the 20 World Cup competitions so far this season.
The victory lifted Dahlmeier to second place in the sprint rankings. The 23-year-old is now only 15 points behind leader Kaisa Makarainen of Finland, who finished fourth here.
Dahlmeier also cemented her lead in the overall World Cup rankings at 963 points. Gabriela Koukalova of the Czech Republic, No. 2 in World Cup rankings and the reigning sprint world champion, ended up in 21st place here and now trails Dahlmeier by 86 points.
"I think it's hard to give your best every day and to make always good results," said Dahlmeier. "I think it was not the best day for her (Koukalova), but she will come back."
The IBU Biathlon World Cup is one of the test events for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Only sprint, pursuit and relay events will be contested in this week's World Cup.
The men's sprint is slated for Friday. The women's side will have the 10km pursuit event on Saturday.
