A new video to promote Korea released on Nov. 14 by the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has garnered rave reviews.

KOCIS unveiled the English-language video clip, titled “The Last A.I. (Join in PyeongChang, Join in Peace),” in commemoration of next year’s PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, less than 100 days away.

The 4-minute-40-second video sends a message of hope for the successful PyeongChang Winter Games, featuring the sole robot survivor of a human-robot war in the year 2045.

In just seven days, the video has garnered more than 2 million views on Korea.net’s official Facebook profile, Korea Clickers. It has also earned more than 750,000 views on Korea.net’s YouTube channel, Gateway to Korea.

The Korean Culture and Information Service’s new promotional video ‘The Last A.I.’ has been viewed 2.02 million times and has been shared by more than 1,200 users, with more than 114 comments.

The two social media profiles have attracted more than 172 comments from all around the world. “It was like a movie! It really caught my attention. It was really informative as it showed some of Korea's history and sparked some inspiration,” wrote Nadine Postigo from the Philippines.

Among other comments, there were, “Robot for a peaceful world," by Bîĺâĺ Ôûmôûs from Serbia and, “Amazing in the way to express Korea’s endless approach toward peace by building good relations with other peoples and accepting different cultures," by Shai Maa Helaly of unidentified nationality.

On hitting the landmark, KOCIS Director Kim Tae-hoon said, “We tried to break away from producing videos that only outline and boast about the nation’s achievements. Instead, we tried to introduce what non-Korean viewers may find interesting about the nation.”

“It seems that the message of hope delivered in the video clip -- the spirit of the people who took to the streets in a candlelit vigil for democracy thereby making the upcoming PyeongChang Games peaceful Olympic Games -- has struck a chord with lots of viewers,” the director added.
