The Olympic torch for next year’s PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has wrapped up its journey in Jeollanam-do Province and Gwangju.
The torch landed in Yeosu-si in the province on Nov. 19, crossing the blue water of the harbor in a Yeosu Maritime Cable Car.
On Nov. 21, the flame ascended in a helicopter at the Jindo Public Stadium in Jindo-gun County and flew over Gageodo and Banwoldo islands in Sinan-gun County. The next day, the torch moved to Hwasun-gun County, where it burned brightly during a tour of the Hwasun Dolmen Site and the Hwasun Red Cliffs.
The torch headed to the May 18th National Cemetery in Gwangju-si on Nov. 24, a cemetery dedicated to those who lost their lives in the 1980 democratization movement.
The Olympic flame arrived in Damyang-gun and Gokseong-gun counties in Jeollanam-do Province on Nov. 27. The stop was delayed due to the College Scholastic Ability Test that took place nationwide on Nov. 23.
The flame was conveyed through a bamboo forest, known as the Juknokwon, in Damyang-gun County, and then got onboard a steam locomotive at Gajeong Station in Gokseong-gun County to cross the Seomjingang River.
Following the tour across the province, the torch will now continue its journey in the northern neighbor of Jeollabuk-do Province from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3.
