By Kim Young Shin

Son Heung-Min of Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in the English Premier League has been selected by fans as the January Player of the Month in a vote run by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).

Son earned the most votes, 23 percent, among the six candidates for January, defeating Sergio Aguero (Manchester City, 18 percent), Leroy Sane (Manchester City, 14 percent), Eden Hazard (Chelsea, 17 percent), Marko Arnautovic (West Ham, 17 percent), and Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City, 11 percent).

The PFA said, “After some sterling performances in the first month of 2018 -- especially against West Ham and Everton in the middle of January -- Son contributed two goals and two assists.”

The PFA runs monthly votes to select the best footballers in the U.K.'s four divisions: the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two.
