Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Do Jongwhan and North Korean Sports Minister Kim Il-guk sat together in the stands at the Gangneung Ice Arena on Feb. 14, cheering for their skaters competing in the pair skating short program.

They were rooting for Korean pair Kim Kyueun and Kam Kang Chan, and North Korean duo Ryom Tae Ok and Kim Ju Sik.

The two ministers were seen exchanging pleasantries as the skaters performed breathtaking moves on the ice.

Also in the stands was a group of North Korean cheerleaders, all waving the united Korea flag and cheering for the two pairs.

The North Korean cheerleading squad fills the stands at the PyeongChang Olympics pair skating short program, held at the Gangneung Ice Arena on Feb. 14.



The North Korean pair, Ryom and Kim, received their personal bests of 69.40 points in the short program, placing 11th. Team Korea's Kim and Kam received a score of 42.93 and placed 22nd.

Having qualified for the next round, the North Korean pair will compete in the pair free skating event on Feb. 15.
