Team Korea's Paralympians received an official welcome at the PyeongChang Athletes' Village on March 6, just four days before the start of the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games.

The welcome ceremony, held at the plaza decorated with national flags from participating countries, was attended by Bae Dong-hyun, chef de mission for the Korean Paralympic delegation, as well as some 62 athletes and officials competing in para ice hockey, biathlon, cross country skiing and snowboarding.

Park Eun-soo, mayor of the athletes' village for the PyeongChang Paralympics, congratulated the athletes, saying, "As a disabled person myself, I'm immensely proud of all of you for making it to Pyeongchang. I hope all of you reach your full potential during the Winter Games."

"Our athletes are healthy and in top shape, and will give it their all at the Paralympics. We will try our best to reach our goal of finishing the Games in 10th place overall," said Bae.

Team Korea will enter all six events at Pyeongchang, with 36 athletes and 47 coaches and other officials participating in the Games. The goal is to claim one gold and one silver medal, and two bronze medals, for 10th place in the medal standings.

Meanwhile, North Korea will also participate in the PyeongChang Paralympics. A total of 24 North Korean para athletes will cross the border on March 7 and move into the PyeongChang Paralympic Village on March 8.
