The names of the 28 footballers who will represent Korea at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia have been unveiled, and Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min will play up front.

Team Korea’s football coach Shin Tae-yong announced the names of the 28 players for the upcoming World Cup squad during a press conference at Seoul City hall on May 14. In addition to the final list of 23 players, five more were selected because of injured players.

The team consists of four forwards, nine midfielders, 12 defenders and three goalkeepers. The list includes 14 players from the domestic league, seven from European leagues and the other seven from Asian leagues.

FC Red Bull Salzburg Hwang Hee-chan will play up front, alongside Son. The midfielders include Swansea City Ki Sung-yeung and Crystal Palace Lee Chung-yong, both competing for the FIFA World Cup for the third time, and Hellas Veronas Lee Seung-woo, a rookie.

Five of the players will be dropped before they fly to the pre-World Cup training camp in Austria. Team Korea will compete against Sweden in its first match in Group F in Nizhny Novogorod on June 18.

Following is the roster for Team Korea at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Defenders: Kim young-gwon (Guangzhou Evergrande), Jang Hyun-soo (FC Tokyo), Jung Seung-hyun (Sagan Tosu), Yun Yong-sun (Seongnam FC), Kwon Kyung-won (Tianjin Quanjian), Oh Ban-suk (Jeju United), Kim Jin-su (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors), Kim Min-woo (Sangju Sangmu), Park Joo-ho (Ulsan Hyundai), Hong Chul (Sangju Sangmu), Go Yo-han (FC Seoul), Lee Yong (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors)
