Hahm Hee-eunTeam Korea has taken its first steps toward gold at the Asian Games 2018 Jakarta-Palembang. Starting off with its first victory in men’s handball against Pakistan on Aug. 13, victories followed by the men’s basketball team, the women’s handball team, the men’s football team and the women’s unified Korean basketball team.
― Men’s Basketball 5x5 Preliminary Group A: Korea defeats Indonesia, 104-65Ra Gun-ah, also known as Ricardo Ratliffe, the first naturalized player of non-Korean descent on the national team, becomes the best-performing player.
― Women’s Handball Preliminary Group A: Korea defeats North Korea, 39-22Spectators with T-shirts that say "One Dream, One Korea" fill the stands for the first match between the two Koreas.
― Men’s Football Preliminary Group E: Korea defeats Bahrain, 6-0Striker Hwang Ui-jo scores a hat trick and goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo shows excellent blocking.
― Women’s Basketball 5x5 Preliminary Group X: Unified Korea defeats Indonesia, 108-40North Korean center Ro Suk Yong scores 22 points and gets 8 rebounds.
