Adding five more gold medals to its tally today, in gymnastics, taekwondo, fencing and shooting, Team Korea continues to maintain its third place on the medals table at the 2018 Asian Games, following China and Japan. Korea now has 16 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 27 bronze medals.
Korea’s rising star gymnast Yeo Seojeong won a gold medal in the women's vault, a first in 32 years. Being the daughter of Yeo Hong-chul, who won the Asian Games gold medals in the men’s vault in 1994 and 1998, the father and daughter have now set a record by winning gold medals at the Asian Games.
Taekwondo superstar Lee Daehoon grabbed a gold medal in the men's 68 kg final match, becoming the first person to win three straight taekwondo gold medals at the Asian Games. Fencer Gu Bongil harvested two straight gold medals in the men’s individual and the team saber.
