Korea added two more gold medals in judo on the 12th day of the Asian Games on Aug. 29. Also on Day 12, the men’s football team defeated Vietnam 3-1 to make it into the final round.

Four judo athletes in different weight categories all won medals and restored Korea’s pride in judo that was previously damaged due to it winning no medals at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Judoka Jeong Bokyeong knocked down Japan's Kondo Ami in the women’s 48 kg match and won the first gold medal at the Asian Games in judo. As for the men’s 66 kg match, An Baul defeated Japan's Hoshiro Maruyama with an ippon technique, the quickest way to earn the most points and to claim victory in judo. Park Dasol won a silver medal in the women’s 52 kg match, and Lee Harim won the bronze in the men’s 60 kg match.

Korea also won gold in one of its strongest sports, soft tennis.

Kim Jinwoong stood at the top of the podium after the men’s singles soft tennis events at the Jakabaring Sports City (JSC) tennis court. This is the third consecutive time that Korea won gold in men’s singles soft tennis, following Lee Yohan at the Asian Games 2010 in Guangzhou and Kim Hyeongjun at the Asian Games 2014 in Incheon.

At the end of Day 12, Korea had 37 gold medals, 42 silver medals and 50 bronze medals, and remains in third place on the medals table at the 2018 Asian Games.
