On Day 13 at the Asian Games, Korea proved once again that its women’s handball team is unbeatable in Asia.

The women’s handball team, led by head coach Lee Kye-chung, defeated the Chinese team 29-23 to win the gold medal at the Popki Stadium in Jakarta on Aug. 30. Since the first adoption of women’s handball at the Asian Games in 1990 in Beijing, Korea has only missed the championship once and it has won the championship seven out of eight times.

Cheers of victory were also heard at the cycling track. The Korean women’s track cyclist Lee Jumi won the gold in the women’s 3,000 m individual pursuit race by surpassing China’s Wang Hong. Now Korea has golds in both the men's and the women’s individual pursuit event.

Elsewhere at the Asian Games, the Korean baseball team defeated Japan at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Aug. 30, taking it one step closer to the final.

At the end of Day 13, Korea had 39 gold medals, 46 silver medals and 55 bronze medals, and remains in third place on the medals table at the 2018 Asian Games.
