Day 10 of the 2019 FINA World Championships in the southwestern city of Gwangju on July 21 saw two world records broken and a huge upset.

Adam Peaty of Britain won the men's 100-meter breaststroke semifinals with a time of 56.88 seconds, beating his own world record by 0.22 that he set in August last year at the European Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

In the women's 400-meter freestyle, Ariarne Titmus of Australia upset three-time defending world champion Katie Ledecky of the U.S. with a time of 3:58.76. As the world record holder, Ledecky had sought a record fourth straight world title in the event dating back to the 2013 world championships in Barcelona, Spain.

In another record, Sun Yang of China won his fourth straight world title in the men's 400-meter freestyle.

For Korea, Kim Seo-yeong qualified for the finals of the women's 200-meter individual medley, finishing seventh with a time of 2:10.21.

As of 1 p.m. on July 22, China led the championships with 14 gold medals, followed by Russia and Germany in that order.
