Striker Son Heung-min of the English Premier League's Tottenham Hotspur is getting raves again for his spectacular 70-meter solo goal scored late last year.
The British sports network Sky Sports on April 27 said his score on Dec. 7 in a 5-0 win over Burnley, in which he found the net after dribbling the ball solo nearly the length of the field, was selected by fans as the league's greatest goal of the last 28 years.
Sky Sports on April 13 opened voting to fans on their favorite league goals among 50 choices, with 14,595 voting.
Son's goal got the most votes with 26%, followed by that by Wayne Rooney of Manchester United (13%) on Feb. 12, 2011, against Manchester City and one by Luis Suarez of Liverpool (8%) against Newcastle on Nov. 4, 2012.
"Son's run starts deep inside his own half, with the forward somehow managing to get past virtually the entire Clarets side before finding the back of the net," Sky Sports said, adding, "It might have only come last year but Son's brilliance impressed enough of you to be crowned the winner."
