A large esports festival will be held on Nov. 19 in central Seoul ahead of the final of the League of Legends (LoL) World Championship at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul's Guro-gu District.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Sept. 19 said it will create a space at Gwanghwamun Square in the city's Jongno-gu District for esports and games from Nov. 16-19, a first for the area.

Interactive esports programs will provide fun for fans during the festival. On the evening of Nov. 18, the eve of the final, a concert will feature the background music of the championship. On the day of the final, a stage and screen will be set up and a party for fans will allow them to watch the match while enjoying themselves.

The championship is a global esports competition that pits higher-ranking teams from regional LoL pro leagues against each other. It attracts the most viewers of any esports event in the world.

For the first time, LoL is an official event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, that open on Sept. 23.

Deputy Seoul Mayor for Economic Policy Kim Tae-kyoon said, "This global game and sports festival will promote the charm of Seoul to people around the world and offer an opportunity to enjoy and experience diverse cultures together."
