The 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics (Gangwon 2024) will run from Jan. 19 to Feb. 2 in the city of Gangneung and counties of Pyeongchang-gun, Jeongseon-gun and Hoengseong-gun, all in Gangwon-do Province.
Held every four years, the tournament, the fourth since the inaugural event took place in Innsbruck, Austria, in 2012, is the first of its kind to be held in Asia.
Under the slogan "Grow Together, Shine Forever," the event will attract approximately 15,000 participants from 80 countries and feature competition in 15 events.
The opening ceremony will take place on Jan. 19 at the speedskating venue Gangneung Oval in Gangneung and PyeongChang (Yongpyong) Dome in Pyeongchang-gun, complete with performances by K-pop stars and cultural arts troupes.
Except for the opening ceremony, admission to all the events are free but requires reservation through the tournament's official website (
